Mike Bennett   Mike Bennett
Management Consultant/Coach
mbennett@autotraining.net
[ 20 Group 12: Money Masters ]

Mike Bennett comes to ATI with more than 25 years of experience in the automotive repair industry. As an ASE master technician, Mike has worked in nearly every facet of the industry - working as a general repair technician in a small independent, then as a GM dealer line technician, shop foreman, service manager and, eventually, service/parts director.

In 1999 Mike returned to his roots in the independent repair world, buying the family owned automotive repair business now known as Mike's KARS Inc. which is located in Gettysburg, Pa. Like most successful & passionate technicians, Mike has always had a talent for fixing the "problem child." Mike's KARS Inc. quickly became a success as the area's go-to shop for accurate and dependable repair. However, like most great technicians who end up owning a shop, Mike had little formal training on how to run a successful business or turn an acceptable profit in the "independent" world.

Applying the same passion for excellence to owning & managing a shop that has fueled his success as a technician, Mike has gone on to graduate several business management training programs including the Automotive Training Institute. As an ATI alumnus, Mike has also gained a greater passion for sharing his experience, knowledge and expertise with other shop owners and industries, regularly speaking at local B&I groups, Business Development groups and trade/vocational events. Mike still owns and operates the repair business, but daily operations are now handled by his wife and their very capable staff.

As a coach, Mike brings a unique skill set to ATI. As a technician, current shop owner and ATI graduate, Mike has a perspective of a shared common experience with his ATI client/partners. Mike firmly believes that your success as a shop owner comes not from just working the "longer-harder" plan, but from education, training and a successful partnership with a coach & organization that truly has the tools to put its clients in control of, and on the path to, prosperity, success, independence & happiness in business and in life.

Mike still resides in Gettysburg Pa. with Shelle, his wife of more than 25 years. They have two daughters: Jessica and Nicole. In his spare time, Mike enjoys following his daughter's sports careers, which has included attending 93 of Jessica's 94 collegiate soccer games and as crew chief for Nicole's still active seven year career as a NHRA Jr. Dragster drag racer. He also enjoys restoring WWII Jeeps and military vehicles with his father, Jerry.

Kim Hickey   Kim Hickey
Management Consultant/Coach
khickey@autotraining.net
[ 20 Group 14: Name to be determined]

Kim started her automotive career in 1987 in Arizona while looking after her grandparents. Her first job was a filing clerk for a company that had a Ford Dealership, Texaco Fuel Station, C Store, and a deli. Showing an aptitude for the automotive industry as well as understanding the importance of providing excellent customer service, Kim was quickly promoted to General Manger.

While helping her grandfather take his car for repair, she was shocked to find out how many people were getting taken advantage of in her new community. Since there wasn't a place she could trust with her grandfather and his car, she set out to start her own. Armed with an idea and a lot of determination, Kim started an automotive repair business from her house that grew into a two-building, 9-bay, 12-lift, award-winning family business that is in its third decade of operation.

She will be the first to tell you that it wasn't always easy, but it was always worth it. Kim had enjoyed a lot of success, had the support of her community, and had a lot of gumption, but it wasn't until enrolling in ATI's Re-Engineering Program in that she was finally able to take her family business to the next level. As a shop owner, and ATI alumus, she has the first-hand knowledge and passion to take you and your shop to the next level. Having built her own business from the ground up, Kim has been involved in every aspect of starting and maintaining a successful business.

Kim has two teenage sons, Ron and Ryan, who reside with her in Arizona. She strongly believes that you must give to receive, and credits a lot of her success to "always giving back". She is very active in the planning and fundraisers for several charities and non-profit organizations.

Mike Warren    Mike Warren
Management Consultant/Coach
mwarren@autotraining.net

Mike's career in the automotive industry started over 35 years ago. He graduated from Vale Technical Institute in Blairsville, Pennsylvania, worked as a mechanic for a local Chevrolet dealership, then for an independent repair shop for a number of years before becoming the General Manager of a Mobil Gas Station in Gaithersburg, Maryland. While he was there, he was approached by Mobil Oil Corp with an offer to run one of their company-owned stations in McLean, Virginia. While managing this station for Mobil Oil Corp., Mike was permitted to run his own auto repair business out of the bays, and so started his first business there at the age of 27.

In 1989, Mike moved his business back to Maryland with the purchase of a 6-bay full service repair shop in Montgomery Village. Over the years, the business gained a loyal following of regular customers and Mike enjoyed a reputation in the community of running a shop that combined his experience with integrity and a genuine concern for his customers. In 2008, Mike received an offer from a national franchise company for the purchase of the assets of his business and spent the last 3 years as General Manager for the company.

One of Mike's passions is working with people one-on-one in a teaching, mentoring or coaching role. Having taken the classes taught at ATI over the years, he was led to seek a position with them. His first-hand experience with all aspects of running an automotive repair shop uniquely qualify him to relate to and understand his clients problems, and his passion for working with others motivates him to help his clients achieve success by finding creative solutions to those problems. Mike believes that business owners can be successful by working ON their business as opposed to IN them and is committed to providing his clients with the education and tools they need to make that happen.

Mike and his wife Cherri have been married for 34 years and make their home in New Market, Maryland. They have 2 adult married daughters, 1 adult son finishing college in Colorado and 2 grandchildren that they love spending time with. Mike's faith and church-life are very important to him. He sits on the Church Council and is involved in a leadership capacity with some outreach ministries at his church. Mike loves both the mountains and the beaches and is supremely happy when he's out riding his Harley.
